Recently, on 8 June, 2025, foundational Members of YowieHub, Joe & Oscar, wrote a piece titled ‘A response to a performance plan’ voicing their concerns over leadership and website direction.
My manifesto is a direct response, intended to challenge the many claims made by the pair.
What are their positions?
From the outset, if there is one thing their piece absolutely proved, it’s that Joe & Oscar both have brains. They both have brains enclosed in heads. And those heads can be pulled in. Crucially, this was only proven after the performance plan led to the publishing of their first contribution.
To dive deeper into their piece, I will first address some of its framing. “Joe and Oscar, fan favourite contributors and founding members…”. Immediately, it seems unclear if the two are trying to position themselves as founders (which they are) or mere ‘workers’ / ‘employees’ with no power. The truth, of course, is that they are founders with equal power and sway. They are cosplaying as lowly workers, despite immediately outing themselves as members of the founding class.
At one point they go as far as to say “Yowiehub.com’s [sic] owners operates [sic] through a veneer of professionalism”, cleverly omitting that they too, are owners.
These Potts Point Socialists (PPs) love the brand that they created in their dreams of one day being martyrish socialist saviours, ready to swoop in and seize the means of production. However, as our concerns noted, for them to seize the means of production, they must first cease the means of unemployment.
On Labour
One cannot seize production if they do not produce, this is an indisputable fact.
Labour theory of value (LTV) argues that the exchange value of a good or service is determined by the total amount of “socially necessary labour” required to produce it. The PPs in their article have proven that they neither provide labour nor ad value. What socially necessary labour did PPs provide?
I’d ask the PPs, in the theme of production, to quantify their contribution prior to the publishing of their first piece. I reiterate that production is not a vibe, it is a metric. It is measurable.
The PPs claims are reminiscent of the Unemployment Union, whose threats amount to… well I’m not sure. I really do wonder what PPs industrial action would have been if they chose to not obediently adhere to their performance plan.
Not only do they present a façade of Socialists fighting for what’s right. They claim YowieHub is tantamount to “strategies to suppress voices”. Although this statement may sound impactful, it lacks any legitimate evidence. I do wonder which elements of the process of publishing to them was suppressive.
Some genuine questions I would ask are; did we at any point edit their piece? Did we change their words? Did we encourage them to alter their piece? Did we correct their error in uploading an image of a mouldy car? The answer is, at the time of writing this article, YowieHub’s homepage is a mouldy car. Simply put, the right of participation on YowieHub is not inherent, it is, as the name suggests, marked by participation.
Suppression, Blowing the Whistle and Repairing the Dam
Furthermore, to claim an idea has been suppressed, one must first attempt to share an idea. Oscar and Joe may have had ideas, but no attempt was ever made to publish them, claims of suppression are nonsensical and impossible. The performance plan would not have been implemented if the PPs posts or contributions exceeded nil.
In another section, the PPs make the bold claim that the executive team mirrors the American government’s playbook of retaliation against whistleblowers. It’s unclear whether they are suggesting to ‘blow the whistle’ on YowieHub, if they did not, we encourage them to do so, it would increase our readership.
The PPs claim that the US has fallen “due to the resistance of their people” is bold and again, incorrect as the US state has never fallen. Given the entire identity of this piece seems imagined, I suppose I will afford to give them this creative license too.
Another suspicious point, is that throughout their piece, a consistent use of American spelling can be seen. The YowieHub style guide dictates the explicit use of Australian spelling (except for Julian). Are Joe & Oscar attempting to create a false flag for their handlers?
In the same segment the PPs go on to say, “like a dam breaking, the filth and rot of corruption in Yowiehub.com will be washed away.” Very poetic, and I would put it to them that when the dam breaks, it must be repaired, through labour. Something they seem allergic to. Again, hence the performance plan.
Some Perspective
Finally, I would like to bring attention to the most alarming part of this piece. The PPs have concocted a work while also drinking their own Kool-aid of quasi socialist martyrs. In the exact same breath, they play a great ‘joke’ of uploading their car which is infested with mould. Would a real working-class socialist be so chuffed that their car, their very livelihood, their ability to work, was defective? Would that be such a funny thing to brag about? It must be nice being able to let your luxury possessions (not work vehicles) dwindle away. Would a coal-miner in Wales in 1976 be laughing about their vehicle being destroyed? Would a chimney cleaner joke about breaking their legs on the same day their child died from black lung and their wife was murdered by Jack the Ripper on a cold winter’s day in London?
It seems clear that PPs are so out of touch with who they are LARPing as that they completely shredded their credibility as socialist organisers by flaunting their past used-by-date automobile. The actual contributors of YowieHub are every single day using their cars to get out into the field to conduct Yowie research. If the PPs were committed to the mission of YowieHub, the car would be in use, not collecting dampness or growing mushrooms. The out of date Hyundai is the perfect symbolism for Joe and Oscar’s mouldy attitude towards producing content.
It is regrettable that the first content produced by PPs was not about, and did not mention, Yowies. I hope time is taken to reflect on the mission of this website in future contributions.
With all this said and done, I will say this: Thank you and congratulations PPs. I wholeheartedly applaud Joe & Oscar for creating a piece that has generated so much commentary and content. We look forward to you publishing a second piece and doubling your means of production.
