The first time we listened to this album we were in the car chatting and heading down the coast. From that listen we came out pretty negative, we all thought the whole album sounded very samey and there were better Tame Impala albums.
I didn’t think that we had given it a fair listen, so Squid and I went on an album walk around Sydney listening to the album. It was a beautiful day and just being outside put me in a wonderful head space. The sun was setting and the reflection of light on the waves gave the entire harbour the look of oil or perhaps an ocean of paint. This was a far better way to listen to the album, both the setting and the headphones experience allowed the variation in the album to shine through. In saying that I still think the album was a bit long. Borderline is obviously the punchiest song on the album and if the album were shorter the highlights would have been far more memorable. As it is we considered it a reasonable album but nothing to write home about.
Oscar – Favourite song – Borderline. Found the lyrics of One more year to be a bit goofy for my taste.
Squid – Enjoyed Breathe Deeper, Lost in Yesterday and Borderline. Makes you want to enjoy a sunset, pound some beers and take it easy. This album is so mellow its borderline forgettable. Nice background music for a party but a bit to samey if you are actually paying full attention to the album
Joe – Favourite song is Borderline, whole album was Ok
Liv – big fan
